OUR RESPONSIBILITIES
What We Offer:
- Professional Grade Watering, Fertilizing, Pest & Disease Management*, and Climate Control
- 24/7 Temperature Monitoring by a USA Based Sensor Company (~60°F daytime / ~50°F nighttime) - Heaters also have contingency backup units.
- We will care for your collection in the same fashion as our collection. Be aware, plants will not look bigger or better than they did upon arrival, as this is their dormant period.
- Plants will be pruned according to their growth habit. Some plants may be smaller or have less foliage after storage but will grow back quickly with proper care.
Please note, we cannot offer any formal guarantee as plants are perishable and delicate by nature. Loss rates are around 1 pallet out of 60. However, most years no plants perish. Observed losses occurred from dark winters, novel disease, extreme weather, acts of god and cannot be predicted with 100% certainty.
*Disease Management – We cannot eradicate established infestations and disease, or fully prevent contamination from other plants. Please respect your fellow plant enthusiasts by treating your plants before storage. We reserve the right to refuse storage if plants are infested or sickly.
STORAGE REQUIREMENTS
SIZE: All plants must be 10 Gal or Larger
PLANT TYPES:
- Ornamentals only – food plants such as bananas, citrus and figs should not be stored if intended to be eaten.
- No flowering annuals will be stored. Exceptions can be made for mature hibiscus plants; however these are often cheaper to buy new in the spring than to pay for storage.
POTS:
- Plastic grower pots are preferred – No ceramic/clay pots will be stored. Ceramics are best lined with plastic pots that are able to be removed seasonally for a mess free swap out.
- Must be able to withstand scuffs, scrapes, handling and transport maneuvers.
- All pots must have drainage holes. We will drill holes in pots without them.
- All rocks and heavy materials must be removed, along with any decorations or coverings (mulch, pebbles, etc.).
- Plants should be left in the pot if installing into the landscape. Please have your landscaper remove them from the ground prior to pickup to ensure no machine/heavy equipment is required for removal.
PALLET CAPACITY
Each pallet holds 60 - 80 gallons of foliage under normal conditions.
Examples include:
- 2 x 25-gallon Palms and 2 x 10 gallon Bananas / Elephant Ears
- 4 x 15-gallon Banana trees
- Large specimens (i.e. 10-year-old Monstera) may take up a full pallet
We will also need to consider the amount of light needed for each plant.
